The thermostat is the “brain” that controls the HVAC system in your Mandarin, Florida, home. For your system to perform efficiently, the thermostat needs to work flawlessly. If you find that the temperature in your home is not keeping you comfortable, you might be having issues with the thermostat. Let’s look at three thermostat problems that affect your home comfort.
If the thermostat is placed too close to the air vents where cold air is entering from the air conditioner, it will take a false reading and tell the AC system to turn off, which will make your home feel too warm. The best spot to put the thermostat is in the center of the house, like the living room, and away from heat sources or vents.
Bad Power Supply
If the thermostat is wired in, there might be an issue with faulty wiring. Check the circuit breaker that supplies the power to the thermostat to see if it’s tripped. If the circuit breaker keeps tripping, the wiring may be bad or loose. If the thermostat is run by batteries, then simply replace them and see if that fixes the problem.
If dirt and dust get trapped inside the thermostat, the buildup can hinder the performance of it. Open up the faceplate and use a fine, clean paintbrush to dust the inside of the unit, especially around any contact points. Be careful when doing this so you don’t bend or break any parts.
